It takes its name from Blessed Beatrice d'Este, born in 1191 at the estense court, and here she lived between 1221 and 1226.

Originally it was a male convent built around 1000 on the top of the hill and dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, then a second convent was founded and restored in 1221, a century later. This last one was the setting of Blessed Beatrice and her nephew quee Beatrice of Hungary

At the beginning of the XVI century the convent was left after Cambrai league events: the nuns moved to Padua, at Santa Sofia.

Nel 1657 the building was bought by the Venetian goldsmith Francesco Rubertis and transformed into an elegant country villa.

At the beginning of XX the current barchessa (bend) was built, instead of the big church, and used for agriculture.

Villa Beatrice accomodates the Natural Museum wich evaluates the richness of variety of flora and fauna.
